Ivor S.K. at Southbound Tavern

Come out to Southbound Tavern and listen Ivor S.K. live!

Hailing from Sydney Australia, Ivor Simpson-Kennedy is one of a new generation of exciting young blues talents to emerge from Down Under. Owning a dark, smoke filled voice and liquid smooth guitar stylings, he utilises these inherit skills to give his compositions a striking originality, paying homage to generations past while bringing a remarkably fresh approach to the table. While his all original music has a deep blues thread throughout, it is by no means one dimensional, with strong reggae, soul and rock flavours permeating deliciously deep grooves, courtesy of Ivor’s previous history as a drummer.

Having performed from Fiji to London, Ivor has now crossed the pond to the spiritual homeland of his music, New Orleans, and is bringing his unmistakable brand of song writing and guitar playing to fresh sets of ears and eyes.

Hoodoo Blues Revue

With the perfect conjuring of authentic Chicago style blues and a fresh modern sound, Hoodoo Blues Revue packs a powerful punch and brings the blues back to the mainstream. The rock-solid rhythm section of bassist Scott Harpster and drummer Nick Reeves drives this band of hoodoo hounds, fronted by the soulful voice and screaming blues harp of Brandon Rankin and the expertly crafted guitar wizardry of Eric Wall.

Meeting at the crossroads of the crisp, tight grooves of today and the nostalgic feel of a time when greats like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf ruled the day, it's not hard to see why Hoodoo Blues Revue's sound has been described by the mantra they now keep:

Real Blues, for Real Blues Fans

John Ford

John Ford

It’s pre war blues, old school country, southern gospel and the history behind the music. John Ford assimilates the blues of the 1920’s and 30’s, the blues of Robert Johnson and Son House, a bit of 1940's country and a pinch of gospel rhythm, and comes up with his own brand of the roots experience.

Ford has been writing since his early teens, growing up in New Richmond, Ohio a small river town 20 miles east of Cincinnati. “Whether it be songs I’ve written or an old song from the 1930’s, I play what I fall in love with. Many times people ask if I’m doing all original music; sometimes I do, depending on the venue, but sometimes it’s just an old Son House song or a new Chris Smither song that people have never heard, that I consider to be a great song.”

John recently released his newest album in September of 2016. Titled "The John Ford Blues Society", his first full length album, comprised of 10 tracks, it has some of the best musicians in Cincinnati playing along.

John recorded the 2014 EP "Songs From Room 414" at The Gunter Hotel in San Antonio Texas – the hallowed ground where Robert Johnson recorded 16 out of his 27 songs in November of 1936. His first EP, “Injection of the Blues” was released in 2011. In 2015, John was nominated for a CEA (Cincinnati Entertainment Award).

Over the past few years he has performed at "Shack Up Inn" in Clarksdale Mississippi, Tallahatchie Flats in Greenwood, Mississippi, The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis, BB's Jazz, Blues & Soups in St. Louis, The Empty Glass, The V Club, The Black Bear & The Purple Fiddle in West Virginia, Preservation Pub and Alive at Five @ WDVX in Knoxville & “The Bluebird Café” in Nashville, as well as opening for Cedric Burnside, Patrick Sweaney, Damon Fowler and Ruthie Foster.

Shawn Williams

Shawn Williams

Hailing from New Orleans, her debut album Shadow (2017) is a skillfully-mastered collection of originals that moves seamlessly from old-school R&B-inflected rockers to softer, wistful numbers that evoke the broken-hearted melancholia of the desert. Idiosyncratic, catchy, and rich with local talent, the tracks showcase Williams’ impressive musicianship and unique capabilities as a songwriter. On recording as in live performance, she conveys a sense of rawness, a depth of feeling, and a lack of pretension that set her apart from the rest of the city’s pool of talented up-and-coming musicians.

Shawn has opened for national touring artists such as the Queen of Rockabilly - Wanda Jackson, Corey Smith, The Accidentals, Todd O'Neill, Loverboy, and more.

Looking forward to her next album release in June of 2018 titled "Motel Livin"

Greasy Tree

Are you ready to get LOUD??? You don't want to miss this!
Greasy Tree is a blues infused Power Trio with excess hair and even more attitude. The band’s freshman, self-titled album was released in February of 2017. With the help of Pete Matthews (Devon Allman, Evanescence, and Paul Simon) and Toby Vest of High/Low Recording out of Memphis TN, the album has a raw, unfiltered sound that reminds us of the greats. Cameron Roberts’ scorching guitar riffs/vocals, dynamic beats/vocals from drummer Jacob Brumley, and gritty bass tones/vocals from Red Dorton create a chemical reaction of Rock and Soul that is bound to take you back to your roots.
